First things first, Happy New Year. It’s 2011 and we’re all fired up and ready for business. We hope you are too.
Although, officially, it’s too late to make further New Years Resolutions, Fresh Dimension Media are going to re-write the rules.
Usability is a simple concept, but overlooked by many. We’re not going to preach to you, but take a step back and review your website. Are your messages clear? Is it simple to navigate? Can your visitors find the content, the products and the services you offer easily? Is it simple to contact you with questions, with enquiries and with orders? Do all your links work correctly? I could continue, but hopefully you get the point. Now ask somebody else to do the same. Somebody who’s not familiar with your website and see if they can navigate with ease. This is usually where it gets interesting, especially if you’re too closely involved and can’t spot the obvious flaws other visitors might find.
We’ve reviewed 100’s of websites over the last few months and continue to be shocked by many and impressed by few. Without naming names, we took a screenshot from one of our competitors today which we’ve posted below:

Could this happen to your website?
During the lifetime of this blog we will highlight some good and bad examples of Website Usability which we hope you’ll find both interesting and enlightening. In the interim, go and check to see how you measure up. Make it your unofficial New Years Resolution, an excellent way to kick start your 2011 Website Strategy.
Alternatively, if you’re too pressed for time, commission us to review your website for you. It could be the best online investment of your career.
